DESCRIPTION: Miniature: Watercolor & gouache of a woman a man and a cherub, set in painted black wood and brass frame, glass backing to reveal a famous poem "Hope and Love Banish Fear," frame measures 8 inches x 8.75 inches, signed by Samuel Shelley (see photo). A larger size (1.5 ft. x 1.5 ft.) of this is hung on display at The British Institution at Pall-Mall in 1808 and is listed in their catalog on page 12 (see photo). Samuel Shelley's works are included in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. From the collection of former US ambassadors to France and Belgium.
